01 / HOW IT WORKS

The tub is the speaker.

Cold plunges have commoditized into the same box of cold water. Ours is a multi-modality therapeutic platform — cold is the first layer, vibroacoustics the second, and the carbon shell is built to carry what we add next. Transducers drive the shell, the shell drives the water, and water and body tissue share nearly the same acoustic impedance — so sound crosses into you almost without loss. The whole submerged body becomes the receiver.

Drive the shell

Low-frequency transducers, 1.5–6 kW total depending on configuration, bond directly to the carbon laminate. No speakers in the water.

Carbon's stiffness-to-weight ratio lets the whole tub act as a diaphragm. 20–200 Hz core driver range.

Submerged, your body is acoustically matched to the water. Bass arrives as pressure, not sound — felt in the chest, spine, and limbs.

Air reflects. Water transmits.

Sound crosses a boundary only when the two materials have similar acoustic impedance. Water and soft tissue are nearly identical; air and skin are not. This is textbook acoustics, not a health claim — sources in the whitepaper.

Sound you feel, not hear.

In air, bass reaches you as sound. In water, it reaches you as pressure. Submerged in the Vibroacoustic Plunge, a low note doesn't arrive at your ears first — it arrives in the sternum, the spine, the long bones. The whole water column moves with the shell, and because your body is acoustically matched to water, the wave keeps going. Breath tends to fall into the pulse without effort. Most people describe it as being inside the note.

HYPOTHESIS
The "cat purr" band. Sustained low-magnitude vibration in this range may support bone density, tendon and muscle repair, and pain relief — in water, delivered to the whole body at once.
PUBLISHED BASIS
Domestic cats purr at 25–50 Hz with harmonics to ~150 Hz, and cats show unusually fast fracture healing and low bone pathology; von Muggenthaler proposed the purr as a self-healing mechanism. Separately, low-magnitude mechanical vibration at 20–50 Hz has increased bone density and accelerated healing in animal and some human trials. Correlation and cross-species inference — not proof.

EEG (electrodes on the scalp reading brain-wave activity) shows that 40 Hz vibration applied to the hand makes the brain's own rhythms lock to 40 Hz — the "gamma" band linked to attention and memory. Whole-body 40 Hz vibration also improved motor outcomes in neurodegeneration mouse models.

HYPOTHESIS
Higher-frequency vibration through water increases blood flow and muscle activation in the immersed limbs — faster clearance after hard training, without loading the joints.
PUBLISHED BASIS
Whole-body and local vibration at 50–100 Hz raises skin and muscle blood flow and recruits muscle via the tonic vibration reflex; several trials report reduced next-day soreness and stiffness. Vibration in this band has also been used for pain relief through gate-control effects. Plate data, on land — the water-coupled version is untested.

Steel dampens vibration. Fiberglass is too brittle. Acrylic is too dense to move. Carbon fiber is stiff, light, and rings true — the same reason it's used for cello bodies, race chassis, and aerospace skins. Composites by Arctic Carbon in the Motor City: each shell is hand-laid in Detroit by a team of auto-industry engineers trained in aerospace-grade infusion processes. Every tier is the same forged carbon fiber shell.
Can I customize it?
Yes. Weave, clear-coat tint, gloss/satin/matte finish, hardware, and a logo or monogram laid into the carbon are all specified with our team before layup. Every unit carries its build number.
When will my tub ship?
Approximately four months from deposit. We are building today; creator demo units are prioritized.
What power do I need?
Configurations run 1,500 W to 6,000 W. Site requirements: level floor, drain access, 120 V/20 A or 240 V/10 A circuit.
Does electricity touch the water?
No. Transducers are bonded to the exterior of the carbon shell.
Can I try one first?

Can my performance staff set the protocols?
Yes. Frequency, amplitude, temperature and duration are all adjustable; we build custom protocols with team staff and share de-identified session data if you want to run your own study.

What we're studying.

Published work on low-frequency vibration and cold immersion that shapes our research questions. None of it is about this tub — we're recruiting researchers to run that study.

Why these frequencies? It started with a cat.

In 2001, bioacoustics researcher Elizabeth von Muggenthaler measured the purrs of 44 cats — house cats to cheetahs — and found they cluster between 25 and 50 Hz. The same band that vibration researchers have separately studied for bone and tissue response. Whether cats evolved purring partly to self-repair is still an open question in biology. But it's why our lowest program lives at 25–50 Hz. We named it after the observation.
